Young, radiant skin affords you several advantages, that is, both personally and professionally but required Skin Care. Personally, your self-esteem will get its needed boost. You will be more confident when socializing and might even snag the man or woman of your dreams. Professionally, you’ll look at your best during job interviews or sales calls. As with your wit, your glowing skin can help you land the job you’ve always wanted. And once you face clients, you will always have your best foot forward because no pimples, blemishes, or acne marks hold you back.

However, if you want fresh, glowing skin, you must be ready to commit to a skincare routine that works. Here are skin care tips to help you get started.

Know your skin type

This aspect is the first order of business. If you’re not aware of your skin type, you won’t know what skincare routine suits you. Plus, you will be wasting money on skincare products that, at best, do not do anything to improve your skin or, at worse, exacerbate problems where you want fixing.

Consult with a dermatologist to know for sure if you have oily or dry skin or a combination skin type, as each type requires different beauty care approaches.

Cleanse

The rule of thumb is to choose a mild cleansing product. Harsh cleansers will rid your skin of its natural oils. That results in dry skin that is more prone to irritation.

Wash your face twice a day, in the morning and at night. Follow a circular motion with your fingers. After washing, pat dry your skin with a clean towel. Never rub dry your skin because friction is never good for your skin or facial texture.

Use serum

The key to maximizing serums is to apply a coat of toner first. That’s something you do after washing your skin. What it does is help your skin better absorb whatever you apply next.

If you have oily skin, you can’t go wrong with a toner with salicylic acid or hazel extract. Those with dry skin may choose toning products with ceramides or glycerine.

There are different serums at your disposal. A bottle of  Vitamin C serum should be on top of your priorities. It gives you added protection against free radicals, making your skin look youthful and blemish-free.

Exfoliate

We shed dead skin cells every day. Without adding the step of exfoliating in your routine, those dead skin cells build up on the skin’s surface, potentially clogging pores and causing irritation and infection. When you exfoliate, you allow the healthy skin underneath to surface; thus, you automatically look more radiant.

Exfoliate depending on your skin type. The oilier your skin, the more frequent exfoliation you need. You can choose either store-bought products or homemade concoctions. Kitchen staples you could use include sugar, salt, oats, and baking soda, among others. Get creative.

Moisturize

Again, this is something you could DIY. For example, you can try making your own skin hydrating butter with green tea as the main ingredient. If you do not want to go through all that hassle, though, you can buy cream moisturizing products.

Before taking a moisturizing product to checkout, read the label first to know whether the ingredients are suited to your skin type.

Get sun protection

Sure, you need vitamin D to stay healthy. And the sun’s your most reliable source of vitamin D. However, be wary of direct sunlight, especially between 10 am and 3 pm. That’s when most of those harmful UV rays strike.

Do not leave the house without putting on sunscreen. Again, base the product you use on the type of skin you have.

SPF 15 is the experts’ minimum recommendation. If you think you’re more prone to sunburn, feel free to use sunscreen with a higher SPF.

Hydrate

Summer is here. The heat is not only exhausting but dehydrating as well. And your skin is one of the first casualties if you’re not sufficiently hydrated.

Always have a water container at hand. There are many trendy-looking products out there. Yes, hydrating yourself has never looked cooler than it does now.

Stay active

Regular exercise can do wonders on your skin. Every time you sweat, you’re releasing toxins from your body, including those from your skin. Moreover, exercise improves blood flow. That means your veins efficiently carry essential nutrients and oxygen to your skin cells.

Plus, exercise triggers your brain to release happy hormones like endorphins. That means no more blues-related breakouts.

Eat healthily

For healthy skin, your diet should include lots of greens and fruits. A minimum of five portions of those goodies daily will visibly improve the appearance of your skin in no time. Eat food that’s rich in selenium, omega-3, healthy fats, vitamin C, and vitamin E.

Consider taking vitamin supplements if you think you’re not getting enough of those from your diet. Consult with your dietician to make sure.

Avoid too much sugar and grease in your food, as these are recipes for blemished skin. Replace them with ingredients high in antioxidants, including walnuts, pecans, berries, and grapes.

Avoid vices

Excessive drinking and chronic smoking are harmful to your health in general. Specifically, these bad habits cause dry and dull skin.

The more you drink, the more you become susceptible to psoriasis, an auto-immune skin condition. The same goes for smoking. Both speed up the aging process, so stay away from vices as much as you can.

Wrapping Up

Skincare should be holistic. It would be best if you zeroed in on both internal and external factors. What you apply to your skin should be complemented by a healthy lifestyle. That way, you’re boosting skin health from the inside out.  Once you have achieved glowing and youthful skin, pair it with a winning personality. Keep in mind that while beauty can get you ahead, in the end, your character is what many people will cherish and remember. You’re a total catch if your radiant physical appearance is complemented by, as cliche as it sounds, a good heart and a sunny disposition.
